A good friend of mine sent me the link below concerning propane prices here in Northern WI and Upper MI. It helps to explain what is going on with the high propane prices here in the midwest. I did some calculations, and if propane is over $3.24 to $3.60 (depending on your furnace or boiler efficiency), it is cheaper to heat your home with straight rate electricity. Crazy isn’t it? If you are on “time of use” electricity that WE Energies provides, propane has to be below $1.24 to $1.50 per gallon during off peak hours.

All the more reason to make sure your home is energy-efficient. Many existing homes (with a few simple adjustments) can be made much more efficient to heat and cool.
