Leaving your Eagle River home for vacation during the winter months?
I have a suggestion for you. You may want to turn off your water supply, but there is a remote chance that a pipe will burst and you would’t know about it until you get home. We have remodeled several homes after a pipe burst, even in a heated home and it can cause extensive damage
Make sure nothing needs water while you are gone, such as water softeners. They may need to be turned off, as well as your water heater. Make sure your water heater is separate from your heating system before you turn it off. By turning off the water heater, you also save energy, since most water heaters lose heat to the surrounding area and it isn’t as efficient as your furnace or boiler.
